Holloway, 33, has rattled off three wins in four outings, a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 304 in October his only misstep. The Gracie Technics product owns a stellar 22-8 record across his 30 appearances inside the Octagon. Poirier—who holds an identical record within the promotion—was responsible for two of those setbacks: He tapped Holloway with a triangle armbar at UFC 143 in 2012, then took a five-round unanimous decision from the Hawaiian at UFC 236 a little more than seven years later. The 36-year-old Lafayette, Louisiana, native enters their third encounter having alternated wins and losses in each of his past five assignments, including a fifth-round brabo choke submission defeat to then-lightweight champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 302 in June 2004.
